Mr. Pokharel is the principle convener and founder of CODEFUND, and also the executive chief. He as botanist joined Tribhuvan University in capacity of Lecturer in Botany in 1982. After advance study on Natural Resource Management, he extended his expertise from 2003 to 2007 as Sector Chief in Bung Sector (Solukhumbu) in Makalu Barun National Parks & Conservation Area Project jointly executed by the Mountain Institute and Department of National Parks & Wildlife Conservation. In 1997, he joined IUCN Nepal as consultant later as Senior Program Officer and Regional Chief in the eastern Nepal to convene landscape biodiversity projects like Community Conservation of Rhododendron in Tinjure Milke Jaljale Area and Critical Ecosystem of Ilam Siwalik.
He worked as Consultant Adviser for the Government of Nepal for the sustainability of lakes in 2007 and entered into governance strengthening initiative of International Lake Environment Committee Foundation (ILEC)/Japan. Now, he is strongly affiliated in the school of wetlands particularly the lake, and making national efforts to implement Integrated Lake Basin Mechanism (ILBM) in Nepal. He and his team are recently engaged to promote conservation development especially establishment of Wetlands Academy, the primary constituent of wetlands governance in Nepal.
Mr. Sharma graduated as an ecologist in 1993 from Tribhuvan University, Nepal and advanced study on Natural Resource Management and Sustainable Agriculture from Norway in 1999. He did Ph D from Mizoram University, India in 2013. His engagement includes vegetation ecology for >two decades under different projects on Integrated Conservation and Development and Natural Resource Management, and in depth knowledge in protected area networks for biodiversity conservation and monitoring and sustainable use. He has undertaken Undertook over 50 projects in wide ranges of themes.
He is involved in studying, analyzing and evaluating the collaborative conservation activities of bio-resources and sharing these experiences with different stakeholders including university students. He is affiliated with Central Department of Botany as consultant professor and supervised MSc and Ph.D research fellow scientists.
He has many research publication in national & international journals, and produced more than seven dozens of technical reports and documents related to the ecology, bio-resources and biodiversity management.
Dr. Sharma is one of the founder members, and Coordinator (NRM/Biodiversity) in CODEFUND.
Ms. Rita Koirala (Arjel) is Natural Resource Management expert and academician. She has over 20 years of engagement in the development sector with the main focus in natural resource management, livelihood, leasehold forestry, socio-economic empowerment, and local institutional development. Ms. Koirala has carried out social-economic and baseline surveys, resource mapping and prepared working guidelines, operation plan and manuals of many projects and published many papers. She is one of the founder members of CODEFUND.
Govinda Bahadur Basnet got his PhD in Environmental Anthropology from the University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia, USA, in 2007. Previously, he got Masters degree in Ecological Agriculture from Wageningen Agriculture University, the Netherlands, and B.Sc. (Ag.) from Andhra Pradesh Agriculture University, Hyderabad, India. He has worked for over 15 years in the fields of environment conservation, climate change, water resources management and community, development in policy analysis, program development, implementation and evaluation. Coming from Solukhumbu district, he has worked extensively in remote areas of Nepal. His research focuses on interfaces of water resource management and environment conservation and won prestigious research grants from institutions like National Science Foundation and Wenner-Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research (USA) among others.
Dr. Basnet has been involving in CODEFUND since 2016 as Anthropologist Expert.
Mr. Shrestha joined CODEFUND in July 2016, as Program Officer. He studied Master’s degree in Environmental Science with a special paper on Biodiversity & Wildlife Management from Tribhuvan University, Nepal.
His track contribution to nature conservation particularity wildlife is over a decade experienced from >40 districts of Nepal. He is one of the pioneer youths in Nepal for tiger and vulture conservation.
Aashish Tiwari got his Master’s degree in General Forestry from Institute of Forestry, Tribhuvan University, Nepal. Previously, he got B. Sc. (Forestry) from the same institution and has worked different field of forest management, wildlife biology, biodiversity conservation. His research focuses on the deadwood management for carbon and biodiversity conservation on Banke National Park, Nepal.
Currently, Mr. Tiwari has been devoting his time to CODEFUND as Program Officer, Pokhara base, for the Dipang Lake Conservation program which is a multi-funded program for one and half year.
Mr. Sujan Shrestha has a Master’s degree in Biodiversity and Environmental Management (BEM). He started to work in this institution as a volunteer in 2017 and before this, he had worked at the Wildlife Conservation Nepal(WCN) and Environment Conservation Initiative(ECI). He was the pioneer researcher who had a passion for the Biodiversity and Environmental Conservation. He was involved in Dendrochronology and Soil Sampling Project before he joined CODEFUND.
Mr. Shrestha is involving in CODEFUND as Research Officer for the project entitled “Enhancing Community ability to manage watersheds for reducing threats to the freshwater ecosystem in West Rapti River Basin, Nepal.
Mr. Pabin Shrestha from Gorkha, Nepal had completed a Master’s degree in Botany from Tribhuvan University in the year 2016 and
Bachelor in Science from Amrit Science Campus. He has been involving in Environmental and Natural resource management sector over 2 years. He has joined CODEFUND in 2018.
In CODEFUND, Mr. Shrestha is being fully involved in “Assessment of Wetland Biodiversity and Preparation Management Plan of Taltalaiya, Sunsari” and “Preparation of The Ramsar Information Sheet (RIS) of The Wetlands of Nepal” programs financially supported by Department of Forests and Soil Conservation.
Ms. Sangita Decha is a permanent resident of Duwakot, Changunarayan Municipality-1, Bhaktapur. She is currently studying Master in Business Studies from Nepal Commerce Campus (affiliated to Tribhuvan University/Nepal). She had completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Studies from Nasa International College, Kathmandu (affiliated To Tribhuvan University/Nepal) in 2018. She has experience of working as Assistant Accountant for six months in Promotional Gift Nepal, Chabahil, Kathmandu and two months internship in Everest Bank Limited, Kathmandu as Customer Care.
Ms. Decha is a
young and energetic girl with great knowledge of computer office package and accounting software Tally.
She has joined CODEFUND since March 2019 as an Assitant Accountant (full-time staff).
