Approaches & Strategies

Strategy.1: Persistence Advocacy

CODEFUND persistently does advocacy for the need of conservation development forum; conservation academy; conservation banking; green dissemination; green recognition and demonstration of ecosystem management and prosperity. In fact, these all are gaps that Nepal needs fulfilling gradually. CODEFUND not necessarily perform all these in isolation. It collaborates in each effort made any time by any institutions, wherever possible.

Strategy 2: Partnership with government

CODEFUND strongly pledges to support the government for role play of prime actor for conservation development; at center, districts and villages. In village, it is mandatory that CODEFUND signs memorandum of understanding with  Gaupalika for a basic working principle of sharing project secretariat in its premises. Because of this shared strength, Gaupalika at the end will come up  with full capacity to provide  socio-ecological services.

Strategy 3: Key action areas keeping governance pillars at the center

Water (wetland/lake), forest and agriculture are key action areas in mountain environment Nepal contributing to socio-ecological prosperity; whereas, consolidation of Policy, Institution, Participation, Information, Technology & Finance are considered most outstanding governance pillar to achieve socio-ecological prosperity (Prosperity, Wisdom & Peace). Refer outline diagram below.

Strategy 4: Prosperity not a free gift but from collective inputs & actions

CODEFUND adopts self-reliance principle for sustaining conservation development. For this, each household requires exploring their inner strength reaping prosperity much rewardable in terms of economy and sustained environment. For this, CODEFUND calls each household in Gaupalika to contribute community decided fund on regular basis. This fund is not for the use of CODEFUND, but for community themselves. Prosperity could be achieved only through appropriate actions.

CODEFUND mentors communities on how such collection will bud towards their prosperity.

Strategy 5: Village planning is the must case

Village planning is must before any interventions made in Gaupalika. An Appreciative Planning & Participatory Actions (APPA) helps preparing community/institutions to set & determine their need based activities.

Strategy 6: Knowledge management

Knowledge is the main driver of any social-ecological changes. Knowledge discovers techniques and technologies. Schools in Gaupalika are normally the knowledge centers. CODEFUND strongly pledges one school be emerged as quality knowledge center in Gaupalika.

Step 7: Mandatory provision of green economy micro-enterprise

Considering village economy being the next drive for prosperity, CODEFUND put thrusts on a mandatory provision of natural resource based 3 micro-enterprises (green economy) in Gaupalika. This provision helps building social harmony from economic sovereignty.

Strategy 8: Nature conservation

Nature conservation is the central in each intervention made in target Gaupalika, so CODEFUND insists for 40 percent of Gaupalika be forest covered at least.
