Surya Man Shrestha

Mr. Surya Man Shrestha is an Environment and Biodiversity Conservation Expert with a Master’s Degree in Environmental Science (2015) from Khwopa College, affiliated with Tribhuvan University (TU), Nepal, specializing in Wildlife and Biodiversity Management, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science (2009) from Tri-Chandra Multiple Campus, affiliated with TU.

He is currently working as a Senior Program Officer at CODEFUND, where he has been involved in research and conservation programs since 2016 and has supported more than 35 projects. His professional competencies include biodiversity and wildlife research, wildlife monitoring, wetland assessment and management, human-wildlife conflict assessment, environmental assessment, database management, GIS/data analysis, field surveys, research planning, technical reporting, stakeholder consultation, and project coordination.

He has extensive field experience across Nepal, including more than 6,000 km of field-based forest travel in the Terai, mountain, and high-altitude regions. His experience includes tiger monitoring, camera-trap surveys, wildlife crime database management, Ramsar Information Sheet preparation, wetland inventories, lake basin management planning, NTFP assessment, wildlife rescue planning, and human-wildlife conflict studies. He has also prepared more than 100 technical reports and contributed to research publications and books.
