DEPARTMENT OF FORESTS (DoF)

DoF is one of the five departments under the Ministry of Forests & Soil Conservation (MoFSC). The department has the foremost mandate of managing the country’s forest resources for the conservation of the natural environment and to supply the forest products to the people. Yet, Nepal holds 5.83 million hectares (39.6%) of the total geographical area of the country.

The department is also the focal institution to coordinate and implements wetlands programs and project. CODEFUND in 2016 has assisted the department to carry out field base scientific inventory in 13 districts of the Mid-Western & Far-Western Development Region of Nepal. Further, CODEFUND also works in developing a joint proposition for wetlands such as Building Capacity of Multi-stakeholders for the Sustainability of Wetlands in Nepal under Japan Fund for Global Environment in 2015.

CODFUND will have avenue for future collaboration and cooperation with DoF.
